The Magic You Were Born With

It's the Only Thing this Old World's Made Of

A Little Message:

Dear Gentlefolk, For years, I’ve shared stories and songs with you through the April Eight podcast. Now, a gentle change is coming.

Soon, I’ll be opening a new space where these tales can gather in a cozy, more lasting way and a way for you to support the work if you wish.

The stories aren’t going anywhere, they’re simply stepping into a new season.

I’ll share more soon. For now, know that something beautiful is on its way.

With love,
April

The Magic You Were Born With

But for today, I share a song that gets to the heart of what I feel to be true. I wrote it for the Fairy Godmother in a version of Cinderella that my friend Carol Brammer wrote for the Clifton Children’s Performance Theater years ago. It had a line about love making a pumpkin into a carriage that I cannot quite remember now.

Perhaps you’ve heard this song if you’ve listened to the version I rewrote for The Thom Gnome stories called The Butterfly Adventurer. That series starts right here… and this song is in episode 7, I believe, Thom and the Dragon! Of course, we all know that she isn’t really a dragon, so don’t be scared!

The Butterfly Adventurer Series begins right here…

The Magic You Were Born With

The sun shines down and the moon rolls around
and the seed becomes a tree
Every idea we’ve ever had can become our reality
Child, do you understand what I’m laying here before you?
What you hold in your heart, that intangible spark
creates everything.

And that’s Love love love,
it’s the magic you were born with.
Love love love,
it’s infinite, it’s enormous.
Love love love,
Don’t hide it when you can shine it.
Because love love love is the only
thing this old world’s made of.
